Five large lenders announced September-quarter results on Saturday 17 October 2026, and their profits moved in different directions, according to a TradingView News comparison. Axis Bank reported net profit of ₹7,003 crore, up 38%. Yes Bank reported consolidated profit of ₹1,080 crore, up 65% from ₹654 crore. IDBI Bank reported ₹2,205 crore, down 39%. The comparison also lists HDFC Bank at ₹19,510 crore (up 4.7%) and ICICI Bank at ₹14,843 crore (up 20.1%).
Axis Bank
Axis Bank's provisions fell to ₹1,694 crore from ₹3,547 crore, a fall of about 52% on the reported figures. The comparison gives no net interest income, margin or asset quality figures for Axis Bank.
Yes Bank
Yes Bank had the highest percentage growth in profit among the five. Net interest income rose 22.7% from a year earlier, and the comparison says it reported the lowest net NPA in the quarter among the banks listed.
IDBI Bank
IDBI's fall reflects a one-time gain of ₹1,699 crore in the year-earlier quarter. Excluding it, the comparison says underlying profit rose 14%. It says net interest income expanded strongly but gives no figure.
Limits of the comparison
Net interest income is given only for ICICI Bank (₹25,339 crore, up 17.7%) and Yes Bank. Revenue and margins are not given for any bank, and the report does not say whether each profit is standalone or consolidated beyond noting Yes Bank's as consolidated.

- Yes Bank profit: ₹1,080 cr (+65% YoY)

What boards and CFOs should note
Three points stand out. First, the fastest profit growth came from banks with falling provisions or a low base, not from the largest banks. Second, one-time items drove two of the five headlines, HDFC Bank's lower treasury gains and IDBI's year-earlier gain, so underlying figures matter. Third, a fair comparison needs margin and asset-quality data that this summary does not provide.
