Fortis Healthcare has completed the acquisition of Suguna Hospital in Rajajinagar, Bengaluru, for approximately ₹277 crore through its wholly owned subsidiary International Hospital Limited. The all-cash transaction includes the hospital's operating business, land and building, according to a company disclosure dated 28 October 2026.

The multispeciality facility currently has 110 operational beds and the capacity to add about 40 more. Fortis said the acquisition strengthens its cluster-focused expansion in Bengaluru and gives the group a larger position in the city's north-west corridor.

The transaction covers operations and property

The deal combines a slump sale of the hospital business and operations with acquisition of the underlying land and building. Fortis described the transaction value as cumulative and said the acquisition was completed on 28 October.

Suguna Hospital began operations in 2006 on Dr Rajkumar Road in Rajajinagar. It offers medical and surgical services across multiple specialities. The company plans to upgrade clinical infrastructure, broaden programmes and expand the bed base after integration. Management has not specified the sequence or budget for those works. The operating plan will need to balance refurbishment with continuity of care, because beds taken offline for upgrades can temporarily reduce capacity before the expansion begins contributing.

Bengaluru capacity moves closer to 1,000 beds

Fortis said its Bengaluru network now has approximately 1,000 operational beds, including facilities operated under management arrangements. In north-west Bengaluru, the combination of Suguna Hospital, the existing Rajajinagar facility and People Tree Hospital represents roughly 500 potential beds.

The company sees the corridor as an underserved catchment. The acquisition is intended to create referral, procurement and operating synergies across nearby facilities, although the disclosure does not quantify expected cost savings or the timing of capacity additions. Integration will also require common clinical protocols, technology systems and staffing plans across the cluster.

Revenue provides a starting benchmark

Suguna Hospital reported operating revenue of ₹49.80 crore in FY2025–26. The release does not provide EBITDA, occupancy, average revenue per occupied bed or capital expenditure required for upgrades, so the purchase price cannot be assessed from revenue alone.

Fortis operates 37 healthcare facilities across 12 states, with more than 6,300 operational beds. The group said the acquisition fits its strategy of deepening selected city clusters instead of spreading capacity evenly across markets.

  • How quickly can procurement, staffing and referral synergies be realised across the north-west Bengaluru cluster?
  • Which occupancy, pricing and clinical-mix assumptions support the acquisition valuation and return targets?
