JK Cement reported consolidated net profit of ₹169.3 crore for the second quarter of FY27, up 6.31% from ₹159.25 crore, on revenue from operations of ₹3,733.42 crore, up 23.65% from ₹3,019.20 crore, according to Business Standard on 24 October 2026. NDTV Profit's headline gave profit as ₹173 crore, up 7.8%, so the figure differs by source. Spectate Media has not seen the filing.

Volumes and costs

Grey cement sales volume rose 21% to 5.37 million tonnes, and white cement volume rose 13% to 0.49 million tonnes. Total income was ₹3,771.29 crore, up 22.84%. Total expenses were ₹3,515.71 crore, up 24.34%, which is faster than revenue. The company's investor presentation cited "robust volume growth and higher profitability despite cost pressures", and the report does not say what those pressures were. It gives no EBITDA, margin, realisation per tonne, fuel cost, dividend or quarter-on-quarter comparison.

Paints expansion

The board approved a new water-based paint plant at Raghunadhapalem in Suryapet district, Telangana, for the wholly owned subsidiary JK Maxx Paints. Annual capacity is 75,000 kilolitres and the estimated capex is ₹130 crore, funded from a previously approved ₹600 crore paints investment. Commissioning is expected within 12 months of construction starting. The existing Bhiwadi plant in Rajasthan has capacity of 73,000 kilolitres and runs at 60% utilisation, which the company expects to reach full utilisation by FY28, the reason for the expansion.

Key numbers

  • Revenue: ₹3,733.42 crore (Up 23.65%)
  • Net profit: ₹169.3 crore (Up 6.31%; NDTV Profit says ₹173 crore)
  • Grey cement volume: 5.37 million tonnes (Up 21%)
  • Total expenses: ₹3,515.71 crore (Up 24.34%)

What boards and CFOs should note

Three points stand out. First, volumes drove revenue, but profit lagged because costs grew faster. Second, the report does not break down costs, so the cause is not clear. Third, the paints business is being expanded while the existing plant is still at 60% utilisation.
