Indian Overseas Bank reported net profit of about ₹1,912 crore for the quarter ended 30 September 2026, up 56% year on year, according to DT Next. Other outlets give ₹1,962.67 crore (a PTI headline carried by The Hindu) and ₹1,963 crore (Free Press Journal), so the figure should be checked against the bank's filing, which Spectate Media has not seen. This article uses the ₹1,912 crore figure and the ratios from DT Next and Motilal Oswal's news page.

Core numbers

Net interest income rose 26.41% to ₹3,867 crore, and operating profit rose 26% to ₹3,016 crore, with treasury income lower. Priority sector sale certificates contributed ₹900 crore to profit. Domestic net interest margin was 3.49%. Gross NPA fell 64 basis points to 1.19% and net NPA to 0.16%. Global advances grew 24.35% to about ₹3.46 lakh crore, with deposit growth of 17%.

Provisions and funding

The bank has provided ₹2,700 crore against an expected credit loss requirement it estimates at ₹2,600 crore to ₹3,000 crore, when the new norms apply from 1 April 2027. It mobilised ₹11,000 crore through FCNR(B) deposits, which management said raised its cost of deposits. It plans to raise $500 million through external commercial borrowing by December, in two tranches of $250 million using the RBI's concessional swap facility. The Hindu headline also mentions a qualified institutional placement in the fourth quarter, which the DT Next and Motilal Oswal reports do not.

Managing director Ajay Kumar Srivastava said the bank is confident of sustaining 25% to 30% profit growth.

Key numbers

  • Net profit (DT Next): ₹1,912 crore (+56%; other reports ₹1,963 crore)
  • Net interest income: ₹3,867 crore (+26.41%)
  • Gross NPA: 1.19% (Down 64 bps year on year)
  • Planned ECB: $500 million (By December)

What boards and CFOs should note

Three points. First, ₹900 crore of the profit came from priority sector certificates, which is not recurring in the same way as interest income. Second, FCNR deposits lifted the credit-deposit ratio and funding costs. Third, the profit figure and the QIP plan differ across reports. Not investment advice.
